The word, at-one-ment, literally means that making two parties at one.
Nicholas Thomas “Tom” Wright (born 1 December 1948) is the Bishop of Durham in the Church of England and a leading New Testament scholar. I happend to know him during Systematic Theology 2 class. He has a lot of video speach about various theological issues. This one in particular talks about various models of atonement, such as Chritus Victor, Penal Substitution, Healing view, etc.

Quick summary —————————————————
All atonement models have something to say and ultimately fit together; but if you take penal substitution out of its biblical context, God becomes a bullying headmaster, who gets mad at the whole class, then beats up his own son and says “that will do”
Christus victor is a central way to understand the cross (the victorious love of God)
The four Gospels and Paul’s letters must be held together; to attempt to summarize the story is to lose some of its force
Story of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation is how God desires to liberate all of creation from its subjection to evil and decay—all of this evil converges upon and passes through the moment of Jesus’ death on the cross
